Week Without Driving Challenge Sep 30 – Oct 6

Join the Week Without Driving challenge from September 30th to October 6th, aimed at raising awareness about the barriers faced by non-drivers. Skagit Transit will host organized ride-alongs to help participants explore public transportation. Skagit Transit Launches Service Analysis for Enhanced Community Connectivity

Skagit Transit is conducting a service analysis to inform its Long-Range Transit Plan, hosting Public Comment Meetings from March 23 to April 9, 2024, across Skagit County. These sessions invite community feedback on current services and suggestions for future improvements. Meeting locations include Anacortes, Sedro-Woolley, LaConner, Concrete, Mount Vernon, and Bow. Skagit Transit 30th Anniversary!

Skagit Transit is celebrating 30 years of providing essential transportation services to Skagit County. From its modest beginnings with 4 routes, it has expanded to 19 routes, connecting residents and visitors to education, work, healthcare, and the region's natural beauty. The organization remains committed to safety, service, and schedule. To commemorate this milestone, a free public ceremony will be held on November 1st, 2023, at Skagit Station in Mount Vernon, WA.

 

National Week Without Driving Oct 2-8

National week without driving, observed from October 2nd to October 8th, is an annual event aimed at promoting alternative modes of transportation, reducing carbon emissions, and raising awareness about the environmental and health impacts of excessive car use. During this week, individuals are encouraged to explore alternative ways of getting around and to limit their use of personal vehicles!

 

Community Connect In Concrete

Community Action Skagit is hosting a community connect event in Concrete that will link low income residents with social service providers! Just let your bus driver know your going to the event and your ride will be free! This event will take place Friday September 29th at 10 AM to 2 PM.

 

Skagit Transit's Paratransit Text Notification System: Ongoing Verification with Cell Carriers

Skagit Transit is currently in a verification phase with cell phone carriers concerning our Paratransit Text Notification System. Due to this ongoing step, users might have observed certain text messages not getting delivered. We're actively addressing this issue and recommend riders to transition to voice or email alerts for now. If you need assistance with this switch, kindly contact us at 360-757-4433. We're grateful for your understanding and are working diligently on this.

Skagit Transit Service Improvements Postponed Until January 2024

Skagit Transit delays its planned service improvements on Routes 513 and 615 from August 28th to January 1st, 2024, due to staffing shortages. The current schedules remain in effect, with efforts to resolve staffing issues underway. For more information, contact Skagit Transit at 360-757-4433.

Skagit Transit Celebrates Independence Day; Bus Services to Resume on July 5th

Skagit Transit wishes everyone a safe and joyous Independence Day! 🎆 In observance of the holiday, our bus services will not operate on July 4th. This pause allows our staff to join in the celebrations and spend time with family. We'll be resuming our normal service schedule on July 5th. Skagit Transit Receives $5M Federal Grant for Future-Proof Facility and Sustainable Operations

Skagit Transit has been awarded a $5M grant by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to build a new Maintenance, Operations, and Administration (MOA) facility. This project, supported by local investments and state funds, will bolster public transit's sustainability in Skagit County. The new facility will provide space for operational growth, protect assets from flood risk, and lay groundwork for a future zero-emission fleet.

Skagit Transit Service Changes May 1st

A new route is being created. Route 101 will expand service in the Burlington area running seven days a week. Route 300 has been extended to service Klinger Street and F/S Grade Road. Route 301/717 has schedule changes to increase efficiency. 40X has additional stops added. Customer Service hours will also be increased at Skagit Station.

 

Skagit Transit Guemes Island Service During Ferry Haul-Out

Skagit Transit will provide shuttle service for Guemes Island residents.

 

Skagit Transit Ride Free Day January 26, 2023

Skagit Transit is pleased to announce it's fare-free all day on Thursday January 26th throughout Skagit county. This fare fee program can help you to get to work, to education programs, to the libraries, museums and more. It's a chance to try transit with no out of pocket cost. It supports the annual Point in Time count also. The Skagit Transit Board of directors approved the fare free day which applies to Skagit Transit's local fixed routes.
