JOB SUMMARY:

WAGE: $67,771.08-$87,473.36 Annually
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Audit timesheets for payroll; enter employee hours worked into the payroll system as needed; review employee time and payroll records for accuracy; monitor payroll deductions, rate of pay, and available leave balances for pay period; initiate payroll submission

Prepare and ensure monthly/quarterly/annual vendor and governmental reports are reconciled and submitted timely and accurately

Maintain employee payroll records including pay, benefits, deductions, leave balances support orders, and garnishments.

Partner with department staff regarding employee benefit enrollment, changes, and cancellations to ensure accurate deductions and paymentsare entered and applied

Research and respond to payroll related inquiries from employees, management, and outside agencies, ensuring timely follow-up; serve as a resource for all payroll and leave related topics

Respond to Verification of Employment (VOE) requests promptly

Ensure data integrity within the payroll/HRIS system

Prepare Personnel Action Request forms as needed

Conduct payroll orientation for new employees; explain policies, systems, and programs

Manage and ensure all leave programs are current and coincide with state and federal guidelines

Assist with annual benefits renewal process and open enrollment activities

Support audits related to payroll and leave programs, provide documentation and necessary information

Perform other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the job. A typical way to meet this requirement would be:

Associate’s degree (AS or AA) or two-year technical certificate in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field

3 years of increasingly responsible payroll experience using automated systems
-
2 years of experience managing state, federal leave programs, and/or on the job injuries
-
Proficiency in payroll software and HRIS systems; experience with PayNW or MIP is helpful

Public sector experience preferred
