ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Events Specialist:
-
Plan, coordinate, and oversee all Skagit Transit community events, fairs, and outreach activities

Coordinate event planning from concept through completion, including logistics, staffing, equipment, materials, and follow-up evaluation

Manage event calendars and coordinate with internal departments to ensure adequate preparation, resources, and Agency representation

Serve as the on-site lead at events, ensuring professional setup, take down, and positive engagement with the public

Coordinate employee and volunteer participation, providing direction and support to ensure successful involvement

Partner with operations staff to plan and implement special transit services (e.g., shuttles or bus routes) for applicable events
-
Gather, evaluate, and present event-related data to assess performance outcomes and guide strategic planning for future events
Community Relations and Outreach:

Serve as a community ambassador for Skagit Transit by promoting agency services, initiatives, and strategic priorities while fostering strong relationships with local partners, organizations, and stakeholders through events and outreach efforts

Maintain organized digital files, schedules, and records related to events and outreach for continuity and reference
Travel Training:
-
Collect feedback from riders regarding agency external facing technologies to ensure that the technologies are meeting customer needs. Communicates customer feedback and recommendations to Planning and Operations

Establishes and maintains connection with Planning and Operations department to provide continuity between internal and external projects, services, programs, and communications

Present ridership tutorials and informational videos through community presentations

Develop recommendations for underserved service areas for possible service expansion using demographic data, community surveys, and targeted in-person outreach in communities

Assist the Community Engagement Coordinator in identifying gaps in service and unmet rider needs by analyzing patterns recognized through the travel training program. This includes ensuring rider materials are translated and accessible as applicable

Promotes ridership education by engaging with schools, senior centers, colleges, and other community settings, distributing transit materials and providing instruction on how to navigate and utilize all available transportation modes

Leads post-travel training meeting to evaluate if training has accomplished the objectives and reviews attendance numbers to establish a feedback loop for the rest of the team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the job.
A typical way to meet this requirement would be:

Associate degree in management, public administration, or another job-related field

Two years of experience working with developmentally disabled individuals or 2 years of experience in travel training or developmental education

Valid Washington State Driver’s License
