Changes to Regional Pass Acceptance Begin Sept. 1

August 21, 2026

Changes to regional pass acceptance between Skagit Transit and Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) will take effect Sept. 1, affecting riders who travel between systems.

Skagit Transit fares and fare caps are not changing. Effective Sept. 1, the 31-Day Regional County Connector Pass and Skagit-Whatcom One-Day Pass will no longer be accepted on local WTA routes. Both passes will continue to be accepted on Skagit Transit local routes and County Connector routes, including Routes 80X and 90X.

Skagit Transit is reviewing its regional fare products following WTA’s changes to regional pass acceptance and will share additional information if changes are made.

Beginning Sept. 1, Skagit Transit and WTA fare caps will be tracked separately. Fare charges for trips on Skagit Transit will count only toward Skagit Transit fare caps, while fare charges for trips on WTA will count only toward WTA fare caps.

Riders who have purchased a 31-Day Regional County Connector Pass or a Skagit-Whatcom One-Day Pass and would prefer to exchange the pass for Umo stored value may contact Skagit Transit Customer Service at 360-757-8801.
