Public Comment Period - Skagit Transit 2020-2022 DBE Goals

Skagit Transit has developed its 2020-2022 Disadvantaged Business Goals for Federal Fiscal Years 2020-2022. The goal for this period is 1%. The goal was developed in accordance with the process described in US DOT's CFR 49 Part 26. Public comments regarding the goal will be accepted for thirty (30) days from the date of this notice. 2019 Proposed Fare Increase

Skagit Transit is proposing to increase the fares charged for the services provided by this agency. Fare increases would affect: Paratransit, Vanpool, and Local Fixed Route Service. This proposal would institute a charge on our Paratransit service among its other changes.

 

Route 80X Changes

Route 80X will change effective June 16th. Please see the Rider's Guide or website for exact details.​

 

Island Transit Change to 411W

Island Transit has made some improvements to its 411W service from Oak Harbor to March's Point Park & Ride.

 

May 6th Service Change

Skagit Transit is making minor adjustments to the Route 204, 207, and 305 effective May 6th. To get information on the exact changes, please read this article. New maps and schedules can be downloaded. Route 204 will have an adjusted schedule and route. Route 204 will now service HAGGEN's in Mount Vernon. Route 207 will have an adjusted schedule. Route 305 will have an adjusted schedule.

Guemes Island Shuttle Service

Skagit Transit will provide call-in shuttle service for Guemes Island residents to meet the passenger ferry during the ferry haul-out. To arrange a pickup, call Skagit Transit Dispatch at 757-4433, press #1 and ask for Guemes Dispatch.

Bus Coalition Press Release

The five transit agencies in U.S Rep. Rick Larsen’s 2nd Congressional District are proud to announce his co-chairmanship of the new Bipartisan Congressional Bus Caucus. Larsen is a strong advocate for public transportation, and a longtime transit rider. He served on the Community Transit Board of Directors when he was a Snohomish County Councilman before being elected to Congress.

New 40X Bus Stop

The Route 40X will now stop on Avon Allen Rd near Memorial Hwy. This will be in the Westbound direction only.

 

Fare Free Day

Skagit Transit is supporting the Homeless Connect project being held at Skagit Valley College on 8/25/17 by being FARE FREE on local routes all day. This will help the local members of the homeless community connect to the social services they need.

 

Sept 2017 Service Changes

Effective Sept 5th 2017, Skagit Transit is making a number of improvements. The County Connector routes (40X, 80X, and 90X) will have new service added to those routes. Several other routes (202, 206, and 615) will have minor schedule changes. You can view the links to each route or you may can also get a copy of the new rider guide on our buses or at customer service. The new rider guide has a green cover and says effective Sept 5th 2017.

June 12th 2017 Service Change

Skagit Transit will have a service change on June 12th affecting routes in Mount Vernon only. Route 202 is a new route that will operate in South Mount Vernon. Routes 204 and 206 will have new routing to improve coverage and reliability. For information on these routes please pick up an ORANGE Supplemental Rider Guide on one of our buses or anywhere you would normally find one of our regular Rider Guides.

 

Guemes Island Shuttle

Skagit Transit will be operating a shuttle on Guemes Island during the Spring 2017 Haul Out of the Guemes Island Ferry. Please see the related Skagit Transit news release or call Customer Service at 360-757-4433 for additional information.

Flex Routes - Preliminary Service Changes Announced

Flex Routes 49, 185, 195, and 750 will become fixed routes on January 4, 2016. Preliminary schedules, route maps, and change details are summarized on this document.

 

Flex Route 185 - Proposed Service Cuts

Skagit Transit staff is recommending to the Board of Directors that service days on Route 185 be reduced from five days per week to three. This change requires a 30-day public comment period. The public comment period has begun and will end on November 17, 2015. The Board of Directors will decide on this matter on November 18th, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Sedro-Woolley City Council Chambers, 325 Metcalf Street, Sedro-Woolley.

 

Service Changes to Upriver Communities Coming November 2nd

Starting Monday, November 2, 2015, the following service changes will go into effect: (1) Flex Route 8 to Concrete will be replaced by Fixed Route 717 and complementary paratransit service; (2) Route 717 will begin operating on a new schedule and adjusted route; (3) Local fares will be charged on Route 717 - $1 Regular, $0.50 Youth, and $0.50 Reduced or Disabled. One-day and 31-day passes are also available; and (4) Skagit Transit will begin offering 1 additional morning round trip per weekday.​

Public Hearing for 2015-2020 Transit Development Plan Rescheduled

Skagit Transit will be holding a pubic hearing on its 6-year Transit Development Plan at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the Burlington City Hall Council Chambers, 833 South Spruce Street, Burlington, WA 98233.

 

Draft 6-Year Plan Released for Public Comment

Skagit Transit has released a draft Transit Development Plan that lays out planned programs and projects for the next six years. Public comments are being accepted through August 13, 2015.

Skagit Transit Lends a Hand at Downtown MV Fire

Skagit Transit Operators Mike Kerr and Jay Andrew responded to a request by Emergency Medical Services Thursday night for evacuation assistance with a structure fire in downtown Mount Vernon. Skagit Transit was able to provide coaches and Operators to assist with the evacuation of residents living nearby. Our thoughts are with those impacted by the blaze.

Study Identifies Possible Locations for New Skagit Transit Base

Skagit Transit has outgrown its current Maintenance, Operations, and Administrative base (MOA) in Burlington. Understanding that space and capacity constraints would hinder organizational growth and service expansion, Skagit Transit applied for and won a planning grant to study the feasibility of expanding in place or relocating to a new site. This report documents the study’s procedures and findings and makes recommendation to the Skagit Transit Board of Directors.

 

Local Buses to Operate Fare Free on January 29th

In support of programs operating on Thursday, January 29th supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness, Skagit Transit will be operating local routes fare free. Fares will be needed to board the 80X and 90X.

Skagit Transit Ride Pass Grant Program Applications Being Accepted

The Skagit Transit Board of Directors approved a yearly distribution of up to 10,000 local service one-day ride passes to pre-approved organizations serving low income/disabled clients with no other means to pay for public transportation.
