Skagit Transit Celebrates 30 Years of Connecting Communities

On November 1st, 2023, Skagit Transit will proudly commemorate three decades of serving the community and fostering accessible, reliable, and sustainable transportation solutions. Since its inception through public vote in 1993, Skagit Transit has been an integral part of Skagit County’s infrastructure, fostering economic growth and enhancing the lives of residents and visitors alike, allowing them to travel to school, work, appointments, or just to see Skagit County in all its vibrancy and natural diversity.

This significant milestone celebrates Skagit Transit’s humble beginnings and how it has evolved to meet the changing needs of its community. Growing from just 4 routes serving Mount Vernon and Burlington, Skagit Transit has become a comprehensive network of 19 routes catering to the distinct needs of this region. From ever-expanding fixed route services, paratransit door-to-door services, County Connectors to Whatcom and Snohomish Counties, and Rideshare services for committed commuters, Skagit Transit has helped Skagit County get where it needs to go for the last 30 years.

As Skagit Transit reflects on its past achievements and embraces the future with enthusiasm, it remains committed to its values of Safety, Service, and Schedule. With the community’s support, Skagit Transit looks forward to many more years of serving as a vital link that connects people and places in Skagit County.

To commemorate this anniversary and to thank its loyal riders, Skagit Transit will be holding a free public ceremony on November 1st, 2023. The ceremony will begin at 11:00am and conclude at 1:00pm at Skagit Station - 105 E. Kincaid Street, Mount Vernon, WA. Light refreshments and prizes will be provided at this event.
